About
Eurostat,
the statistical office of the European Union, provides the data collected
by the organic inspection and certification bodies in the European member
states.
Since 2005 Eurostat has made extensive statistics available
at its homepage. These are not only on farms and organic land but they
also inform on farm structure and land use. Eurostat provides tables with information on the numbers of operators,
total organic land and landuse for the period 1997-2005.
In June 2007 Eurostat released a major report on the status of
organic farming in the European Union in 2005. The analysis focuses on the data of the
organic area (fully converted and under conversion), including the relationship
between organic area and the total Utilised Agricultural Area (UAA),
and on the data of registered organic operators (producers, processors,
importers).
This as well as other reports can be downloaded from the Eurostat homepage.
