On March 8, 2007, Agence BIO is organizing the seminar "The development of organic agriculture and its market chains in the European Union and United States". The seminar takes place during the international agricultural fair in Paris. A part of the seminar will be in English.

3rd International Congress of the European Project Quality Low Input Food (QLIF) "Improving Sustainability in Organic and Low Input Food Production Systems" at the University of Hohenheim, Germany
The Congress "Improving Sustainability in Organic and Low Input Food Production Systems" took place March 20 – 23, 2007, was the 3rd in a series organized as part of the EU funded Integrated Project (IP) Quality Low Input Food (QLIF).
The 2007 congress is organised by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) in cooperation with the University of Hohenheim. The Congress was supported by the International Society of Organic Agriculture Research (ISOFAR).
The congress was organized in parallel with the 9th Scientific Conference on Organic Agriculture in the German speaking countries, entitled «Between tradition and globalisation», organized by the University of Hohenheim.

The 9th Scientific Conference on Organic Agriculture, will take place at the University of Hohenheim, Germany March 20-23, 2007.
The conference language is German. There will, however, be also sessions in English since many foreign students and researchers are working at the University of Hohenheim due to the new study programme on Organic Food Chain Management and the university’s emphasis on international research.

Pesticide residues on organic produce – sampling, assessment and interpretation in Frick, Switzerland
This course on pesticide residues on organic produce, to take place April 2-4, 2007, provides a broad understanding about sources of contamination and critical control points in organic farming and processing, in the interpretation of analysis reports and residue cases, for adequate sampling procedures in field and processing situations and for the necessary procedures that need to be initiated in case of positive analysis results.
Tools and templates ready to be used in the field will be provided with comprehensive training documents.
The course takes place at the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL in Frick, Switzerland

2nd International Symposium on Organic viticulture: „Regulations for organic enology“ in Stuttgart/Germany
The German Organic Winegrowers Association (ECOVIN) and the German Winegrowers Association (DWV) are jointly organising the 2nd International Symposium on Organic Viticulture during the INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA 2007.
Scientists and experts are invited to submit their proposals for oral presentations regarding the themes listed below (15 minutes talk + 5 minutes discussion). The final date for receipt of abstracts is August 15, 2006.

International Conference on Organic Agriculture and Food Security in Rome
The Food and Agriculture Organisations FAO will hold an International Conference on Organic Agriculture and Food Security, May 3 to 5, 2007 in Rome, Italy. The call for papers closed March 1, 2007.
The overall objective of the Conference is to shed light on the contribution of organic agriculture to food security, through the analysis of existing information in different agroecological areas of the world. The Conference will identify organic agriculture’s potential and limits in addressing the food security challenge, including conditions required for its success.
The papers to be presented at the FAO Conference International Conference on Organic Agriculture and Food Security are now online at the Conference homepage. The keynote papers deal with the following aspects of organic agriculture.

The 7th Bioacademy – European Summer Academy on Organic Farming, in Lednice na Moravě, Czech Republic
Bioacademy is held annually at the turn of June and July. It is regularly visited by about 300 people Bioacademy 2007 has three main themes:
- Processing organic material and production of organic foodstuffs directly on the farms
- Organic farming and its role in landscape protection and maintenance
- Organic pig-breeding and fish-farming.
Furthermore several excursions will be offered.
The main organizers of Bioacademy are: the Czech PRO-BIO Association of Organic Farmers in cooperation with Bio Austria. Specialist cooperatio is with: FiBL, Bioinstitut and Palacky University Olomouc.

1st IFOAM International Conference on Marketing of Organic and Regional Values
During this two-day conference, experts from all over the world are expected to discuss successful strategies and practical marketing examples, including relevant legal requirements and concepts. The conference will address ways to foster identity and uniqueness of agricultural products and food through marketing strategies, and how to best communicate this information to the consumer. The conference is organized by Organic Services and Ecoland in cooperation with IFOAM and is supported by the Bäuerliche Erzeugergemeinschaft Schwäbisch Hall (BESH) and BioFach. The Conference will be held in English.

Dealing with Fraud in Organic Production, Frick, Switzerland
The workshop is a unique possibility to discuss the challenges to protect the integrity of organic products in the rapidly growing sector with the key-players in the control chain. Based on case studies and the experience of the participating experts, measures for short term implementation and long-term strategies to prevent fraud will be elaborated. The results will include
- Elaboration of a code of conduct for certification bodies
- Elaboration of a code of conduct for traders
Top Ten measures for authorities
- Outline of an International Complaint and Fraud Assessment Scheme
Participation is restricted to representatives from authorities from Member States and EU, certification bodies and traders, retailers and brand owners mainly from Mid-Western Europe.

European Organic Congress to look into the future of CAP, Brussels, Belgium
The future EU policy on organic food and farming within the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) is the focus of the European Organic Congress to be held in Brussels on December 4 to 5, 2007.
This large-scale forum of the organic sector in Europe, which is organised by IFOAM EU Group, is expected to bring together at least 200 participants representing: the European Commission, authorities and organisations from the EU Member States, Members of Parliament and a broad range of stakeholders from all over Europe.
