International conference on the organic sector development in Central/Eastern
European and Central Asian countries in Kyiv, Ukraine
During
last years, organic has picked up pace and will soon become an increasingly
stronger stream in the countries of Central/Eastern Europe, the former
Soviet Union and Central Asia countries. The development of the last
two years shows highest growth rates in these countries among all
European countries, although absolute figures are still at low level.
To initiate further development, targeted activities from the private
as well as the public sector need to be taken up.
The conference aims at collecting and presenting experiences,
ideas, solutions, recommendations and practical examples on how to
develop the organic sector. The agenda of the conference includes
policies and action plans, local and export market development as
well as exemplary country reports. The conference therefore builds
a unique platform to discuss strategies, approaches and achievements
for the organic sector development in Central and Eastern European
and Central Asian countries. It is the place to meet old friends and
new partners.
Organizers are the Organic Federation of Ukraine,
Organic Services GmbH and the National Agricultural University of
Ukraine. The conference is supported by FAO, the Ministry of Agricultural
Policy of Ukraine, BioFach, Oxfam Novib and the PPP project Ecoland
Grains & Legumes / Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft
mbH (DEG).
